Nothing is known about Isaac Israel’s life prior to his arrival in Leadville in either 1880 or 1881. He worked as a clerk in the employment office of J. C. Cline at 204 Harrison Avenue. [1] By March 1881, Isaac and J. C. Cline had formed a business partnership resulting in the renaming of the employment office to Cline & Israel. [2] Israel soon left Leadville for Kansas, where he planned to open a branch of Cline & Israel. [3]
