The Temple Israel Building Fire

On May 4, 2006, the building was badly damaged by an electrical fire:

Partial demolition allows for further investigation into the structure of the building and exposes small areas of the original paint scheme.

By the following September asbestos removal and considerable demolition had been accomplished and work began on a new rear addition.  This unit will offer a curator or rental unit and provide a supporting kitchen and handicapped accessable facilities.  Restoration of the synagogue proper began in April, 2007.
